Sunshine Blogger Award!!

Thanks to Dorine over at Lost in my Paperworld for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I’m very honoured to be thought of, considering my blog is only three weeks old. So thank you, Dorine!

I did a quick search for Sunshine Blogger Award online to see if I could find the origin. I didn’t. I found a whole bunch of happy bloggers sharing their love for blogging, which made me think that maybe that was the whole point of the tag; appreciate other bloggers for inspiration, creativity and motivation, and celebrate it. I decided that this is what I wanted to do with this tag.

The Questions

1. What are your top 5 genre’s?

I’m a big sucker for YA Fantasy, so that’s my number one. Secondly, I love adult fantasy,

After these two the field is almost entirely open. I read everything. I love middle-grade adventure, thrillers, non-fiction, sci-fi, classics, and standard fiction. I like being open-minded.

2. Do you have any bad book habits?

I have a few but luckily non involved damaging the book in any way.

My bad habits include snacking while reading so I get crumbles in the book… even I don’t like the sound as I turn that page.

Secondly, I tend to start daydreaming about the stuff in the book happening to me, missing out on what the original paragraph was about and later thinking my daydream was the actual paragraph… I just make shit up! I then have to go back an re-read it so it makes sense. LOL.

3. What book is on your nightstand?

I don’t have one at the moment actually, but if you asked me a week ago it was The Iron King by Julie Kagawa. I really enjoyed it.

4. If you could drink tea with any author (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you talk about?

I think I would go over to the Fletchers (Giovanna and Tom) for a cup of tea. It would be all types of nonsense and serious stuff woven in between. I think that would be a lovely day or a very stressful one if its anything like some of their vlogs 😁

5. What book has been the longest on your TBR?

On my physical shelf, I think it is The Princess Bride by William Goldman. Its been on my shelf since 2009… Though this will be taken care of in 2018 as I’ve selected this book to feature in my ReadHarder challenge.

On my Goodreads list, it’s “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald which was listed in June 2012.

6. Share some of your most unpopular opinions

I’m quite easily pleased and don’t have a lot of unpopular opinions (that I can think of), but one has come to mind.

I thought The Cruel Prince was hyped-up. I enjoyed it, but the hype didn’t match my reading experience.

7. What bookish character represents you the best?

When I first read a Thron of Glass, by Sarah J Maas, I felt I had a lot in common with Celaena Sardothien. We both have a serious amount of sass. We worship silence and don’t deal with bullshit. And we both have a serious relationship with books and chocolate cake. She murders people, but only bad people. I don’t do exactly that, cause its illegal. Though it doesn’t stop me from mentally plotting their deaths in several colourful ways with a smile on my face.

Then Aelin appeared. The resemblance fell away. Aelin cared too much.

I still love the series and can’t wait for the last instalment, but I do sometimes miss the days when I saw so much of myself in her.

8. What was the last 5-star book you read? And what was so good about it?

Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Its a teenage romance without the love triangle, set in the mid-80s. I loved everything about it. It’s still in my head a month later.

9. Pick the 19th book on your bookshelf, open it to the 104th page and find the 8th line. Share it!

The book is “Reality Is Not What It Seems; A Journey To Quantum Gravity” by Carlo Rovelli. It’s very much a non-fiction book about physics. So deep shit people.

I haven’t read it yet but on page 104, the 8th line says: “… that the microscopic randomness cancels out on average…”

Quite random.

That’s Quantum Gravity for you…

10. Have you ever written a story or anything yourself?

Yes. I participated in NaNoWriMo2017 and was successful. I reached 50,000 words on day 29 with a very boring story, but a story none the less! 💪

11. How long have you been blogging?

Since the beginning of February 2018, so only a couple of weeks.
